mcrossley 121130 15:06 - I think your explanation is incorrect. The units are not 'days' but 'degree-days'. So for one day if the temperature was a constant 15 degrees below the threshold, the HDD = 1day * 15 = 15 HDD

Sfws 10:42, 1 December 2012 (UTC) Thanks Mark, I looked at http://www.erh.noaa.gov/cle/climate/info/degreedays.html, http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/normals_documentation_e.html#degree-days, and did a Cumulus Forum search. Neither really assisted me to understand the figures Cumulus generated for me, so I had a stab at explaining them to myself. Sunsequently, with 'write' rights, I thought something should be on the Wiki. Now I know I got it wrong, I will revise the text and should then get it right.
