Introduction

When Steve Loft was about to retire from involvement with Cumulus, he wanted to close his web server. Consequently, a new host was needed for Wiki and the software that had been on the old server.

The Cumulus Wiki was moved by Ken True to this site in October, 2018 as part of the shutdown of Steve's sandaysoft.com website with his retirement, and the software files were moved at same time. It appears (as the main page suggests "We've added download links for Cumulus V1 and Cumulus MX in the new Software/Downloads page " there was a bit of conflict between two different authors as to whether to call the page software or downloads.

Anyway, the Cumulus 1 files were linked to this "Downloads" page by Ken at that time, as part of the migration of the Wiki.

Later, Steve Loft sought a new host for the support forum, which also included links to the MX beta he was writing. When Niall ("Freddie") took over hosting of the forum, the MX software that had been linked from the forum was moved to the Wiki on a new page called Software. Unfortunately, on that new page with Cumulus 1 downgraded to legacy, the creator of that page was so keen to promote the move to MX, he deliberately made it more difficult to find the files attached to this page, yet this "Downloads" page was already referenced from other pages and those links were not updated. while later

Consequently, I have modified this Wiki page back to a proper page, it now contains everything related to Cumulus 1 for future reference (and historic interest).

Final Cumulus 1 version

The final production version of Cumulus 1 (running in Windows for all supported weather stations) is not being supported any more. Existing Cumulus 1 users can update to this final stable installation version, download it here.

Having updated to that version, there is a patch available here which simply replaces the file "Cumulus.exe" from above version. Whilst you can type any year you like into selection boxes on view month, view year, view period, and view NOAA report, this patch allows you to select years up to 2030 from a drop down in the relevant screen box.

Earlier Versions

Steve Loft, as well as updating the support forum with announcements about his releases for Cumulus 1, maintained an abbreviated summary in changes.txt, find it at File:Changes.zip. It covers all releases back to version 1.0, the first release on 27 January 2004.

For the way dayfile.txt changed between versions, see that link.

For the logs created each month, see the example lines below:
