It checks that it has received data from a number of sensors (e.g. pressure, outside temperature, wind) before it starts periodic calculations, logging, uploading to the web, or drawing graphs. This is an attempt to make sure that bad data is not logged. If your weather station is not fully functional, you will not be able to use Cumulus fully.
 
You can over-ride the start up check by adding a line to the [Station] section of [[Cumulus.ini#Section:_Station|cumulus.ini]], thus: ''NoSensorCheck=1''
